One of the most awestruck sites in Newcastle is the Tyne Bridge.
Built in 1928 and opening officially on October 10th, 1928 it links Gateshead to Newcastle upon Tyne in a spectacular way, the bridge spans a total length of 389 meters, a height of 59 meters and weighs in at over 7 tonnes.
When the bridge was first built there were tramlines built into the structure ready for operation immediately.
The tram lines were later removed in the 1950s although some remains are still present today such as fixtures and fittings, for now, unused overhead power lines.
